Exploring the Power of Fan Love
Fan love is a powerful force that can have a profound impact on creators. When fans connect with a piece of artwork or a creative project on a deep level, it can create a sense of validation and fulfilment for the artist. In the world of self-published colouring books, fan love plays a crucial role in motivating creators to continue their work and pursue their passion.
One of the most rewarding aspects of creating self published colouring books through Kindle Direct Publishing is receiving feedback from fans. It’s incredible to see how a simple colouring book can touch the lives of people of all ages. The power of fan love lies in the ability to inspire and uplift both the artist and the audience.
Unveiling My Own Insecurities
As a creator, it’s natural to have insecurities about your work. When my first two colouring books didn’t sell as well as I had hoped, I couldn’t help but question my abilities and whether or not I should continue pursuing this artistic endeavour. My mental health deteriorated and I questioned everything I had done up until that point. However, the positive feedback from those who did buy my books helped me realise that success is not solely defined by sales numbers. One person even went as far as asking for permission to get a character from my colouring book tattooed on her!! This gesture of admiration and devotion was a powerful reminder that the impact of my work goes beyond monetary success. It reminded me to embrace my own insecurities and continue creating art that brings joy to others. The insecurities haven’t disappeared miraculously, but I understand my audience and myself that little bit more. I hope that by chipping away slowly, the things I tell myself I’m rubbish at or that I will never achieve any form of success will gradually fade away and allow me to produce even more work I can be proud of.

Dealing with Few Sales and Persevering Regardless
It can be disheartening when your creative endeavours don’t achieve the level of success you had envisioned. The reality is that not every project will be an instant hit. However, it’s important to remember that success is not always measured by sales numbers alone.
Instead of being discouraged by the lack of sales, I choose to focus on the positive feedback I received from the few people who did purchase my colouring books. Their support and appreciation for my work gave me the motivation to persevere and continue creating. It taught me the importance of resilience and the value of connecting with a small but dedicated audience.
Embracing the Gratitude from Fans
The gratitude and support from fans of my self-published colouring books have been incredibly humbling. Each positive review and heartfelt message I receive reminds me of the impact my art has on others. It’s a reminder that my work has the power to bring joy, inspiration, and a sense of escapism to those who colour the pages of my books. Or they freak the hell out and run away when they open the book cover!
With some time, my hope is that these books will be recognised by the alternative folk they are aimed at and will fly off the shelves. I’m sure every creator wants that, but with patience (not my strong suit), better marketing skills, training and time, I wholeheartedly believe that people will start finding me in search results as my SEO increases and the books will get the recognition they deserve.
Empowering Creators through Fan Support
Fan support plays a crucial role in empowering creators to continue their artistic journey. Knowing that there are people out there who appreciate and value their work can make all the difference in the world. It provides the motivation and encouragement needed to overcome self-doubt and keep pushing forward and drives self improvement.
By supporting self-published colouring books and other independent creative projects, fans have the power to uplift and empower creators. They can help shape the artistic landscape by championing unique and diverse voices. Fan support not only validates the work of creators but also allows them to continue pursuing their passion and sharing their creativity with the world.
So…..with all that said, it’s time for Book 3! Watch this space.
